Stone of Friendship

Amethyst, is said to symbolise trust and piety.

Greek legend believed it prevented intoxication. Amethyst also helps bring calmness and clarity from confusion. Helps alleviate stress and obsessions.

Alcoholics and people who are addicts should carry this stone. A famous ancient detoxifier.

Prized by man as a gemstone for it’s deep vibrant purple colour. It is said to protect the owner from seduction.

Zodiac: Pisces, Sagittarius

February's birthstone.

Amethyst, was set into gold rings as early as 2500 BC and is a gemstone rich in myth, legend and lore. Derived from the Greek 'amethystos', which means ‘not drunk’.

Amethyst is mythologically associated with Dionysus (Bacchus), the Greek god of wine, and was once fashioned into talismans and goblets to prevent intoxication. If you fill an Amethyst goblet with water, it does look a lot like wine, so perhaps this legend has a grain of truth after all.

Long before Roman emperors donned the bright purple ‘toga picta’, pharaohs, kings and queens made purple a potent symbol of sovereignty.

From the signet of Cleopatra, an Amethyst engraved with a figure of Bacchus, to the Amethyst necklace of Queen Charlotte, wife of George III of England, Amethyst will forever be linked to royalty, fashion, prestige and power.

The Story of Bacchus and Amethyst

One of the most well-known of those protections involves amethyst’s purported power to prevent drunkenness. A myth about Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, has promoted this belief.

The story goes as follows:

According to Greek mythology, Amethyste was a beautiful virgin maiden who was on her way to worship at the Temple of Diana. Unfortunately for Amethyste she came under the wrath of Bacchus, the god of wine, intoxication and grapes.

Bacchus was pursuing Amethyste and became enraged when she refused his affections. When Amethyste cried for the virgin goddess Diana to help her remain chaste, she immediately answered her prayers and transformed her into a white glimmering Quartz stone to protect her from Bacchus.

Humbled by her wish to remain chaste, Bacchus poured red wine over the stone as an offer of respect, transforming the stone into the purple crystals we now know as Amethyst. And so, the maiden Amethyste lent her name to the crystal, Amethsyt.

AMETHYST SCEPTRES

Sceptre crystals have another crystal forming over the top of another crystal.

Some of the finest examples of Amethyst Sceptres are found in a number of mines in Zimbabwe.

According to Metaphysical Healers these crystals are symbols of power. The energy flows to the heart (centre) of everything.

They are energy powerhouses and command respect when using them.

A Sceptre is a powerful manifesting crystal and must be used wisely. Make sure it is something you really want, or more importantly, actually need! Quartz Sceptre crystals help one with self-forgiveness.

Become the Sceptre.

Hold a sceptre in your hand and imagine your body is the stem, your head is the crown. Feel your senses heighten. Feel your intelligence and spirituality expand. This is no ego trip. You are the Sceptre, and they have no notion or concept of such trivialities as the human ego.

This is serious expansion, on a level not for the faint of heart!

Feel your eyes and mind focus like burning hot lasers. Let your hearing and perceptive consciousness flood in and wash over you. Feel the power and energy of what is right and just course through your body.

Revel and rejoice in the joy and harmony of balanced yet unlimited energy! You are the Sceptre. You are the Human. You are perfection within the one.
