Whilst these NEW Plastic Mineral Storage Boxes/Display Stands will be s;ightly more expensive than the cardboard boxes, they do have several advantages.

ADVANTAGES Of NEW Plastic Mineral Storage Boxes/Display Stands

1. Reuseable. Cardboard boxes not really suitable for re-use.
2. More durable. Cardboard boxes become soiled easilly.
3. Can be made in different colours. Our initial colours will be black or white. Cardboard boxes usually white colour.
4. No Laborious Folding Needed. Cardboard boxes is time consuming, especially if you have an urgent order to get out.
5. You may adhere specimens to them. Cardboard boxes how stainsss easily when using 'Blue Tack'.
6. They look neater than the folded boxes. Cardboard boxes tend to crease on the fold line and can look untidy.
7. Labeling specimens is easier. You can stick a label to the box and remove it without damage to the box. Cardboard boxes tear easily.
8. Turn the box over and use as specimen display stands. Cardboard don't make good stands as they are too flimsy.
9. Boxes are Waterproof. Cardboard absorb moisture and distort.
10. Will not be eaten by vermin or insects. Cardboard make a tasty snack!
11. Stackable To save space. Cardboard do have an advantage in that the take up less space.
12. Washable. Cardboard are not waterproof and difficult to clean.

We made 3D prototypes so we could sort out design problems.

SURVEY ON CARDBOARD BOX USE - WORLDWIDE

Hi all,

We are currently investigating your possible requirements for the fold-up cardboard boxes used for displaying, transporting and storing individual minerals, gems, fossils and other collectibles.

We are investigating the viability of making an injection moulding tool to make a range of storage boxes in plastic

The new boxes will be made to fit tightly into the standard cardboard flats currently in use.

There would be several benefits with these new boxes.

Benefits:

1. Reuseable
2. They would be more durable.
3. They could be made in different colours. Our initiaal colours will be black or white.
4. You would not have to fold them.
5. You may adhere specimens to them.
6. They will look neater than the folded boxes as folded boxes tend to crease on the fold line and can look untidy.
7. Labeling specimens could be easier. You can stick a label to the box.
8. Turn the box over and use as specimen display stands. You can stick the label to the outside of the box.
9. Your customers will have a ready made, labelled, display stand and a durable box to carry their specimen home.
10. Waterproof.
11. Will not be eaten by vermin or insects.
12. A great marketing accessory.

Possible Disadvantages:

1. They take up more storage room when empty.
2. Cost may be higher.
